We are seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist, High-throughput Bioprocess Technologies to be based out of our HQ in Piscataway, NJ.

     

    Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

     

    The Scientist/Senior Scientist, High-throughput Bioprocess Technologies, Process Development, is a regular employee in a full-time exempt position at Adello Biologics, LLC, in Piscataway, NJ. . Adello Biologics is a science-based biopharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes biosimilar medicines. This individual performs and provides hands-on direction for high-throughput bioprocess development using automated methods.  The scope includes scale-down methods for cell line/upstream optimization, purification/downstream and chromatography optimization, and in-process analytics.  This individual also supports bioprocess-workflow development and linkage of scale-down bioprocess operations to laboratory scale and scale-up bioprocesses. This position requires extensive technical expertise in high-throughput automation, integration of high-throughput modular platforms, and working knowledge of mammalian cell culture, purification processes and analytical assay requirements in compliance with cGMP manufacturing and regulatory guidance.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    • Set up and maintain the automation systems in process development labs.
    • Perform, train, and oversee high-throughput operations and experiments.
    • Closely work with upstream and downstream scientists to understand the process development needs and design the automation programs and workflows to address the needs.
    • Utilize high-throughput scale-down methods to assist in both cell line/upstream and downstream process development, optimization, characterization, and scale-up for robust manufacturing processes.
    • Use high-throughput concepts and technologies to develop the workflows for in-process analytical methods (e.g. ELISA-based Titer Assays and Host-Cell & Process Residuals Methods).
    • Explore and implement advanced technologies in automation to address future development needs.
    • Collaborate within Adello to learn from colleagues and identify and implement best practices within the company.
    • Ensure a healthful and safe working environment and to comply with federal and state regulations in regard to the same.
    • Ensures that plans are developed and in place before work commences.
    • Maintains lab notebooks for all projects and ensure that it is adhered to by all staff within the department.
    • Other tasks as requested by management.
    • Ensure quality and compliance in all work that is performed.
    • Technical data will be prepared and presented to the R&D teams and to management as needed.

     

     

    Qualifications

    PREREQUISITES:

      

       Education:

    • Either a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, or a Doctorate degree in chemical, biological, or biochemical sciences.

       Experience:

    • PhD 2+ years of experience, Master’s degree 5+ years of experience and Bachelor’s degree 8+ years of experience is required.
    • Experience in establishing and developing high-throughput systems and platforms for biologics process development needs.
    • Skilled at setting up and operating different automation systems, including but not limited to ABMR minibioreactors, and Tecan modules.
    • Good understanding of scale-down and scale-up concepts on bioreactor and purification chromatography, and their application in high-throughput designs.
    • Experience in cell culture media and feed development, small-scale purification and basic analytical techniques is preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
    • Must be able to effectively and positively influence the environment and colleagues.
    • An open, approachable style as a leader of a high-throughput function to PD
    • Must have the ability to work with a sense of urgency.
    • Must be able to balance multiple priorities and projects at the same time, and be able to change priorities as needed by the business.
    • Must be able to work independently and lead others.

     

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English fluently.
