We are seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist, Cell Line Development to be based out of our HQ in Piscataway, NJ.

    Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

     

    The cell line development Scientist/Senior Scientist in BioProcess Development is a regular employee in a full-time exempt position at Adello Biologics, LLC, in Piscataway, NJ. Adello Biologics is a science-based biopharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes biosimilar medicines. This candidate will be responsible for the generation of high producing cell lines with a focus on the development of mammalian cell lines. These cell lines will be used for preclinical, clinical and commercial manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for the design, execution and the training for cell line development activities. The position will also be involved in upstream cell culture process development and other project-related activities. This position requires extensive technical expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, understanding of regulatory requirement for manufacturing cell line and working knowledge in bioprocess development.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    • Perform literature search and patent search to gather up-to-date information on drugs particularly biologics amino acid sequences and cDNA sequences
    • Perform molecular biology and biochemistry work including preparation of expression constructs for antibody and protein, RNA extraction, quantitation, Quantitative PCR, Western blot analysis
    • Perform Cell Line Development activities (transient and stable transfections, pool and clone generations, stability studies, genetic characterization)
    • Tissue culture techniques including maintenance of tissue culture cell lines and establish a stable cell lines after transfections in CHO and SP2/0 cell lines
    • Familiarity with flow cytometry (FACS), automated microscopic imaging and antibody titer assay is required
    • Ensure appropriate quality of documentation for studies compatible with global regulatory submission requirements
    • General laboratory assistance including ordering and receiving of lab supplies and lab equipment maintenance
    • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment and to comply with federal and state regulations in regard to the same.
    • Ensures that plans are developed and in place before work commences.
    • Maintains lab notebooks for all projects and ensure that it is adhered to by all staff within the department.
    • Other tasks as requested by management.
    • Ensure quality and compliance in all work that is performed.
    • Technical data will be prepared and presented to the R&D teams and to management as needed.

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    PREREQUISITES:

      

       Education:

    • Either a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, or a Doctorate degree in chemical, biological, or biochemical sciences.

       Experience:

    • PhD with minimum +2 years of experience, MS with minimum of + 5 years of experience, or BS with +8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with antibody/protein high producing stable cell line development and characterization
    • Experience with biosimilar development is a plus
    • In-depth understanding of molecular biology, sub-cloning of cDNAs into vectors and troubleshooting of experiments are essential
    • Tissue culture, stable cell line development and single cell sorting experiences are preferred
    • Good conceptual, analytical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills are required
    • Must be detail-oriented in terms of experimental design, well organized, and able to work independently
    • Experience in cell culture media and feed development, small-scale purification and basic analytical techniques is a plus
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
    • Must be able to effectively and positively influence the environment and colleagues.
    • Must have the ability to work with a sense of urgency.
    • Must be able to balance multiple priorities and projects at the same time, and be able to change priorities as needed by the business.
    • Must be able to work independently and lead others.

     

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English fluently.
